Tom SelleckAmerican actor Thomas William Selleck. His most notable character was Thomas Magnum, a private investigator in Magnum, P.I. The actor was nominated five times for Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (1980-1988) as well as received the Emmy Award in 1985. From 2010 to 2010 Selleck was the New York City Police Chief Frank Reagan. Since 2005 the actor has played struggling police chief of small-town Jesse Stone in nine television films that are based on the Robert B. Parker novels.In films, Selleck has played bachelor architect Peter Mitchell in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and its sequel Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). In addition to his role in Magnum, P.I., Selleck has appeared in more than 50 movies and television shows, including the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter and baseball. He appeared on television in recurring characters as Monica Geller's love interest Dr. Richard Burke on Friends and also as Lance White, the likeable and innocent partner on The Rockford Files, and as the owner of a casino A.J. Cooper in Las Vegas. He also played the lead role in the television western film The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran, a spokesman for the National Rifle Association (NRA), an endorser in advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
