Adele

AdeleAdkins was born to a young single mother in various working-class neighborhoods of London. As a child she was fond of singing pop songs of the day and was taught to play guitar and the clarinet. It wasn't until her teens that she was introduced to Etta James, a rhythm-and-blues singerand other musicians from the early 20th century when she began to think about a profession in music. She was enrolled in a secondary school for the performing and visual arts that was funded by the federal government. A friend posted songs Adkins had written on Myspace. Her work was quickly discovered by record companies and signed to a deal with XL Recordings in 2006.
